My grandmother, with World Trade Center location in the background, 1964.
(from photograph by Esther Sirol)

Before 1973, the skyline, probably the only skyline my grandmother got to see of downtown New York, was beautiful. Even without the Twin Towers, as it is today, it must have been an awesome sight.

I will not forget what was there. I will not forget that people like us are the victims of terrorism. I will never forget- and have never forgotten- what life is like without terrorism. As I will never forget what it is like with it. Now more than ever I reject violence, and I try to understand the reasons behind such acts. I say try because I hope to never fully comprehend why innocent people should be killed, no matter what the cuase is.
